85-year-old makes 700th blood platelet donation

Patrick Earley has had his arm pricked 700 times to help about 4,200 people in the last 18 years.

The American Red Cross honored the 85-year-old Huntington Beach man Friday as he made his 700th platelet donation at a blood drive in Fountain Valley. He is the first to reach that number of donations in Orange County, according to the Red Cross.
