Breakfast is ready
The sparrows on the front of this card wait every morning for breakfast. They don’t complain either if I am late. They love sunflower seeds, but one thing I have learned to make a few years back is the following. SUET. Suet is a grease based dish and depending on what part of the world you live in, either you just throw a handful out on the ground, or where it is very cold you freeze it first and then put it in a hanger, for the many species of birds. The sparrows on the front are just a peek of the dozens that visit every day. There are doves, finches, warblers, orioles, and even hawks come by to grab a smaller bird for lunch. Here is the recipe if you would like to try some suet. Of course you can double, triple it anytime.
1 cup grease or lard 1 cup peanut butter ¼ c
sugar
¼ c oatmeal
¼ c cornmeal
Melt the lard and peanut butter in large pan, after melted add the rest of the ingredients and stir until well mixed. Feed to the birds as desired. Keep refrigerated. In the warm
Areas sprinkle on the ground like bird seed.
